HARASSMENT AT THE ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE

New York Celebrates the Deep Green Irish Soul

from The New York Times, March 18, 2001

By DOUGLAS MARTIN

Aside from the arrests resulting from the protest, two men were charged with third-degree sexual abuse in two separate incidents, said Sgt. Richard Kemmler, a police spokesman. The first incident took place at 2:50 p.m. at the corner of Sixth Avenue and 51st Street. There, a man was arrested after a woman told nearby officers that he had grabbed her breast. The second arrest took place within the next hour on Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street, when officers saw a man rubbing against a woman as he followed her through a crowd, Sgt. Kemmler said.
