COPS INVESTIGATE SODOMY

This story was submitted to the SHP by a reader who found it in the police blotter of the Park Slope Courrier on April 9, 2001.

"Cops are investigating a woman's claim that she was sexually assaulted inside a van parked on 2nd Avenue last week.

The woman said that she accepted a ride from a 30-year-old white male at about 5:40 p.m. on March 22. But instead of taking her where she wanted to go, he drove her to a secluded spot and sodomized her, officials said. The woman was left on 2nd Avenue, said police. She was taken to Long Island College Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition. Investigators are questioning the woman's story, since the location where she was allegedly attacked is an area frequented by prostitutes."

The reader adds: "So someone cannot be sexually assaulted in an area frequented by prostitutes? Or a prostitute cannot be raped? Grrr. Anyone interested in a response? The contact information in the blurb is for the 78th Precinct, 718-636-6411."
